Let’s build a simple speaker
Today I will present a simple speaker, that I made from scratch. It's trivial but sounds really good, unfortunately it has also low power (it's hard to hear).
Used materials and tools:
- strong or at least big magnet,
- paper,
- paper glue,
- slim, isolated wire (from small, signal transformer),
- minijack cable (can be extracted from broken headphones),
- knife and scissors.
Assembling:
- from paper cut a circle with about 3'' radius,
- make inductor from wire with about 60-120 wire loops,
- use knife to scratch glaze from end nodes of inductor,
- take a glue and stick inductor to paper circle,
- connect nodes of inductor to minijack cable,
- put circle on the top of magnet,
- that's all, you may plug cable to PC or mp3 player and listen =)
Bellow is a sample captured from speaker. I've lost original track, so I can't put it here for compare ;-(
